ZZZQuil. Over priced Benadryl or a miracle?

As a member of influenster I was sent a sample of ZZZquil night-time sleep aid, from the makers of NyQuil that we all know so well, to try for free in exchange for my review. As always my reviews are blisteringly honest rather I love or loathe a product. This ZZZQuil has me in two camps.

I would like to start by saying that I do suffer from insomnia a couple of nights a week, I have since I was a child. I have never taken a prescription for this because I don't want to medicate a problem that isn't happening on a daily basis. On rare occasions I do turn to over the counter remedies. One of those is Benadryl. The active ingredient in Benadryl is diphenhydramine also the active ingredient in ZZZQuil. Does it work? Yes, it does work for mild to moderate insomnia. Benadryl costs $7 in some stores while the $ZZZQuil can cost $15. Quite a big difference for essentially the same medication. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine and can be purchased for as little as a dollar a bottle at some discount stores.

In conclusion the product does work. I have no complaints about its effectiveness. It is easily found at any drugstore, supermarket, or the "mart" type stores. It comes in liquid or capsule form.  If you have mild or occasional insomnia this may be for you. I will always buy NyQuil for colds and flu, my household loves it.  My only issue with this product is pricing. If there is a sale or I had excellent coupons I may purchase. Otherwise a generic or store brand Benadryl type drug will be in my cabinet.

I received 2 coupons from Smiley360 for free  Zephyrhills Brand Sparkling Spring Water. I bought both containers at Walmart. The flavors they had were raspberry lime and lemon so I got both. There are other flavors available but my store did not have these.

This has not been very popular in my house. The lemon has no lemon flavor and the raspberry lime flavor is barely detectable. I do like the bottle design and the amount of carbonation, I just feel there could be a bit more fruit flavor.  I am the only one in the household that finds them tolerable enough to drink. This won't be taking the place of soda for me but I can see why it would with some who just like bubbly beverages. I think I may try adding a tablespoon of 100% orange juice to see if my family likes it better, just to kick up the flavor. It may be that we are so used to sodas and sweet tea we just don't appreciate sparkling water. I personally drink a lot of plain water every day and find it preferable to the Zephyrhills Brand Sparkling Spring Water.

If you are looking for a beverage that is very fizzy and you are not too concerned about the fruit flavors coming through, I will say this is for you. If you are pretty much looking for a sweet and fruity alternative to soda this is a skip. Just drink ice water, Zephyrhills has wonderful bottled water, and have the soda in moderation. I won't be repurchasing these.
